December 2008
As another calendar year comes to a close it is exciting to be preparing for our 2009 Banquet! We are having a home grown event this year similar to that of 2007 when the very talented membership will sing, recite, humor and inspire us. We also will have the very popular silent auction in place with all the wonderful collectibles from Wales and beyond. Flags, tea pots, pictures, paintings, books, and maps and so much more. See the article An Evening of Hwyl in this newsletter for more information.
Don’t forget our regularly monthly programming which is also excellent. If you’ve never heard the Tarpon Singers, conducted by our own Jan Morris-Briggs, you need to be at our December 16 meeting. This inspiring Christmas and Holiday program will warm your hearts and get you in the mood for the season.
Coming up soon is Celtic Day at the State Fair. Friday, February the 13th, will see the Welsh as the featured culture. Tom Meisner is planning to showcase the culture of Wales, and at the very least we should have an ensemble singing Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, The Welsh National Anthem. Please contact me if you want to be in the ensemble.
I’m also planning to have a presence at Celtic Festival in Zephyrhills this spring. If you are interested in sitting at our Tent of Wales booth, let me know. The dates are set for March 7&8, 2009. This weekend falls between our Banquet and Gymanfa, making for three great weeks of Everything Welsh and Celtic.
Wow, so much to do! Come for everything, or pick your favorite. Hope to see you all.
